IMI Global Launches USVERIFIED.COM

Leading livestock technology company introduces Beef Export Verification management system

Kansas City, Mo. (October 28, 2004) – IMI Global has introduced USVERIFIED.COM a QSA–Document Management System. It is a simplified way to help companies build and maintain USDA beef export verification (BEV) programs to meet recent international trade requirements. Throughout the past year, Mexico and Canada have required U.S. companies to have an approved BEV program and approved means of verifying specified product requirements.

Since the announcement on Saturday, October 23 regarding the resumption of beef trade with Japan, the need for such a management system has grown tremendously. The statement specified that “Bovine animals included in the BEV Program for Japan must be traceable to live animal production records which indicate that they are 20 months of age or younger at the time of slaughter”. With the USVERIFIED.COM system, meat exporters can create a BEV program that will allow them to document and verify age claims.

The USDA Quality System Assessment (QSA) Program provides suppliers of agricultural products and services the opportunity to assure customers of their ability to provide consistent quality products or services. It is limited to programs or portions of programs where specified product requirements are supported by a documented quality management system. The specified product requirements may be identified by the supplier or by another ARC Branch Program. The documented quality management system is verified through independent, third party audits conducted by the ARC Branch. USVERIFIED.COM also assists companies to meet USDA requirements for a QSA program. Examples of QSA programs include: Beef Export Verification, Supplier Eligibility and company product claim verification.

IMI Global has been offering proven software solutions to the livestock industry since 1995, becoming a leader in livestock traceability technology and creating customized integrated livestock software that helps customers to be more profitable. USDA Process Verified Program

The USDA Process Verified Program provides suppliers of agricultural products or services the opportunity to assure customers of their ability to provide consistent quality products or services. This is accomplished by having their documented manufacturing or service delivery processes verified through independent, third party audits.

USDA Process Verified suppliers are able to make marketing claims -- such as breed, feeding practices, or other raising and processing claims -- and market themselves as "USDA Process Verified." The USDA Process Verified Program does not relieve the supplier of meeting regulatory requirements issued by other Federal Departments or USDA Agencies.

The USDA Process Verified Program uses the International Organization for Standardization's ISO 9000 series standards for documented quality management systems as a format for evaluating program documentation to ensure consistent auditing practices and promote international recognition of audit results.

To operate an approved USDA Process Verified Program, suppliers must submit documented quality management systems to the Livestock and Seed Program, Audit Review and Compliance (ARC) Branch and successfully pass an audit according to the following ARC Procedures:

The following Word Version of the Process Verified Program Requirements may help suppliers in preparing a documented quality management system.
